Pappy Boyington was the leader of the famed VMF-214 Black Sheep Squadron in the Pacific during WWII, an Ace Fighter Pilot, Prisoner of War, and recipient of the Medal of Honor. Pappy Boyington Field tells the story of the grass-roots effort to honor this WWII Hero in the town of his birth, with a commemorative airfield naming...and the campaign was not without controversy. Many people will also remember the popular television series BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP, which starred Hollywood icon Robert Conrad as Major Greg Pappy Boyington. The documentary features archival film footage and photos of the F4U Corsair. It includes an interview with Robert Conrad, and personal insight about Pappy are provided by his son - Greg Boyington Jr. (LtCol-USAF Ret.) Many WWII Veterans who were involved in the airfield naming campaign are featured, and their personal stories are weaved in. The Bonus Features section includes a personal tour of the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, and also a presentation by the Pappy Boyington Memorial Fund.
